A native of Iowa, Kelly D. Norris grew up exploring remnants of the native prairie and collecting wildflowers that persisted as roadside weeds.  After studying horticulture at Iowa State University, he began a career of garden design and administration that has included 8 years as director of horticulture and education at the Greater Des Moines Botanical Garden.  An award-winning author, Kelly published his fourth book this month, “New Naturalism: Designing and Planting a Resilient, Ecologically Vibrant Home Garden.”  An invaluable tool for ecologically oriented gardeners, this book is as relevant for residents of Eastern woodlands or Western mountains as for gardeners in Kelly’s own Midwest.  Kelly’s work has been featured in publications ranging from The New York Times to Better Homes and Gardens.
